Federal Marriage Amendment
On June 26, 2003, the
Supreme Court invented a brand new constitutional right to engage in
homosexual conduct in
Lawrence v. Texas. Although this case does not involve marriage, it
serves as a warning that activists in the judiciary are determined to invent
new rights under our current Constitution. Read my commentary on this case in
this month's National Liberty Journal.
Take action now! A
federal Constitutional amendment may be the only way to stop the
erosion marriage in America at the hands of activist courts.
A Federal
Marriage Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is desperately needed. I am
asking you to fill out a
petition to Congress. Seventy-five representatives have
co-sponsored a joint
resolution to amend the Constitution as follows:
Marriage in the
United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither
this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law,
shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents
thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.
Passing an amendment in
Congress requires a two-thirds majority vote in the House and in the Senate,
and then ratification by three-fourths of the states. Senate Majority Leader
Bill Frist has publicly supported a Federal Marriage Amendment, but is facing
criticism from the homosexual lobby. Others must be encouraged to follow Sen.
Frist's lead on this issue, so the Joint Resolution will be passed quickly
through the Senate. Filling out this petition is very simple and will only
take a second to complete, but it can make a tremendous impact.
You can also click
