Since the Biblical Hebrew
alphabet contained no capital letters and no vowels, writers transliterate
Hebrew words phonetically the way the words sound to the ear of the writer
in his/her native language. Thus one will find a rather wide variation in
the spelling of transliterated Hebrew words.
- Adonai
- Lord; used as a “placeholder” for
the Sacred Name (YHWH, the “Covenant-and-Relationship” name for G-d) to
avoid mispronouncing or misspelling it; in most English Bibles this word
is printed in small caps as LORD
to denote the Tetragrammaton, the 4-letter Covenant Name of G-d, YHWH
-
- Barukh
- blessed, happy
-
- Ben
- son
-
- Ecclesia
- Greek translation of the Hebrew word
Miqra, falsely translated in the English version of
the Greek Scriptures (the so-called “New Testament”) as “church” [see
footnote]
-
- Elohenu
- our G-d
-
- Elohim
- the “Creator-and-Judge-and-Ruler” name
for G-d
-
- Eretz Yisrael
- the Land of Israel
-
- God
- written designation for the Most High;
this designation is used by Jewish writers when referring to the G-d of
the Bible to distinguish reference to Him from reference to all of the
false gods of the world religions; the Rabbis taught that this word,
once written, must never be erased; since every word on this page is
effectively “erased” as soon as you leave this page, this tradition is
used extensively on the Internet

PLEASE NOTE: Due to a significant lack of interest in the Messianic Message in our geographical area, Adat
B'nei HaMelech has been forced (at least for the foreseeable future) to cease functioning as an active
congregation. These adverse circumstances have forced me to take a full-time secular position which will require
me to work evenings and weekends for the foreseeable future, precluding group Bible studies due to schedule
conflicts. I will, however, continue to operate this website as an on-line ministry for as long as the LORD leads
me to do so. As the LORD leads you, your continuing prayers and financial support to offset the on-going
web-hosting and other operating costs will be sincerely appreciated. — Ari
